Dentures are not just for those that have lost all their teeth. Partial dentures can be a viable restorative dentistry treatment for many people that have lost one or more teeth and want to restore their complete smile. Partial dentures rely on the surrounding teeth for support, holding the prosthesis in place. At Paul Jang Dentistry, we offer beautiful partial dentures that can be designed to match your existing teeth and give you back your smile with an affordable price tag.
Did you know?
Partial dentures require gentle care and frequent cleaning. Once you get your new partial dentures, you’ll need to:
- Keep them moist at all times by soaking them in a denture solution when not in use
- Gently brush your dentures daily using a soft-bristled tooth brush
- Be careful not to drop your partial dentures, as they may break
- Avoid exposing your partial to hot temperatures that could cause warping
Frequently Asked Questions
Am I a candidate for partial dentures?
Partial dentures are a good option for those who have one or more missing teeth and are not good candidates for dental implants or bridges. Partial dentures do not require surgery like dental implants and are more affordable than other restorative options.
What should I expect when being fitted for partial dentures?
Partial dentures clip into place with metal clasps that are attached to your existing teeth. To create your new partial denture, these clasps will be added to your teeth. An impression will then be taken for the mold of your new prosthetic teeth. The partial will be created in a dental lab, and then we will ensure a custom fit in our office. The partial will attach to the clasp and give your new teeth a secure fitting for function.
Will I need to follow any special oral health instructions after receiving my partials?
Your new partial dentures should be removed and cleaned every day. If you leave them out of your mouth when you sleep, they should be stored in water to prevent warping. Your existing teeth and gums will still require routine home oral care and visits to our office for twice-yearly cleanings and checkups. We will give you instructions on how to care for your new partials and help you maintain them in the years to come.
